Maybe it's because it's New Year's Day and other places aren't open. There was a huge line up! !

I had the upper hitsumabushi, but there was so much eel that I couldn't close the lid! I'm very satisfied. Umeboshi is a little sweet, and I personally prefer eating it like a pickle rather than adding it to ochazuke. There was a long wait even during the daytime on a weekday, but it was worth the wait!

For directions, please refer to ‘Beach Dog’s review below. Arrived around 11:10 a.m. on a weekday, and there were 4 teams waiting in front of us. Wait for 1 hour.. I recommend going at 10:45 and waiting in advance. I sat down and ordered and the food came out 10 minutes later (I guess it's timing...) I am an adult female who is a big eater, so one serving is a bit much, so eat 3/4!! Very tasty

I highly recommend to try Hitsumabushi in this restaurant. It was first time Hitsumabushi for me and tasted fantastic. Outside is very grilled crunch and inside is fluffy. Also, you can try four different way to eat. My favourite is number four. Perfectly match with Umeboshi. And size. It's hard to decided which size is good. We order Hana Hitsumabushi 3/4尾 and it's not too much it's not less. Perfect portion for us. If you love to eat Jou Hitsumabushi 一尾, but normal food portion is perfect 3/4尾. Hard part was waiting time. We arrived at 18:30 on Wednesday but it's already waiting 10group of people. So we waited for a hour. But this restaurant one of my Nagoya friend recommend me so I'm glad I did it. It's worth it.

I ate Hitsumabushi for the first time in Nagoya! I'm usually a fan of eel bowls, but since I came to Nagoya, I ordered hitsumabushi. I was really glad I tried Hitsumabushi because it was so delicious that it far exceeded my expectations, and I want to come here again when I come to Nagoya! The umeboshi that comes with the hitsumabushi was also very delicious! I want to buy just this pickled plum to take home! Although I have never eaten any other Hitsumabushi in Nagoya, I will forever recommend this place to everyone around me.
